Single-shot sub-Kelvin cryocoolers
We design and build single-shot cryocoolers to your requirements:
Base temperatures from 0.1 to 1 Kelvin,
Hold times from 8 hours to 72 hours
Heat lift capacities from 10 microwatts to 1 milliwatt.
Continuous cryocoolers
We make two models, both with unlimited hold time!
1KCC provides base temperature < 1K with cold stage heat lift > 250 microwatts.
300mKCC provides base temperature < 300mK with cold stage heat lift up to 20 microwatts.
Gas-gap heat switches
We make heat switches in both standard and bespoke designs, for rapid cool-down and  thermal isolation.
Active heat switches operate under user control.
Passive switches operate automatically when they reach their 'on' and 'off' state temperatures.
Chase Research Cryogenics designs and manufactures sub-Kelvin cryocoolers and heat switches for a wide and growing range of scientific and engineering fields. Our customers' applications include astrophysics, quantum technologies, nanotechnology, materials science and biophotonics.
We have a strong emphasis on custom design to individual specifications. We continue to innovate and extend our product range to offer new, low-cost opportunities to work at sub-Kelvin temperatures. Current developments include our CONTINUOUS closed-cycle cryocoolers, providing stable sub-Kelvin temperatures for months at a time.

If you are already working at liquid helium temperatures, whether using a mechanical GM/PT pre-cooler or a 'wet' dewar with liquid cryogens, you can easily interface one of our sub-Kelvin cryocoolers to your existing system and upgrade to the next level of cool. Our interfacing page shows you how.

Do you need a complete cryogenic system for working at sub-Kelvin temperatures? We work closely with several companies that provide complete systems incorporating our products. We are always happy to advise on interfacing and instrumentation options.

25 years at the cutting edge of Cool
In 1993 Dr. Simon T. Chase started a small business enterprise, based in Sheffield and trading as 'Chase Research', to design and produce simple and reliable sub-Kelvin cryogenic coolers for the research market. Chase Research became incorporated as Chase Research Cryogenics Ltd. in January 2003. Today, Chase Research Cryogenics is continuing to innovate and to expand. Our growing in-house team of engineers and physicists is working in partnership with both local and global business partners, bringing our unique products to new markets.
Cool to below 1 Kelvin
Simple, low-cost, easy to use 4He cryocoolers. Typical specifications of a standard system:
Base temperatures as low as 800 mK,
Hold times ranging from 12 to 24 hours
Heat lift up to 1 milliwatt.
Our new Continuous 1K cryocoolers do all this  without any limit in hold time.

Cool to below 0.3 Kelvin
Upgrade to the next level with a 3He crycooler. Typical specifications of a standard system:
* Base temperature below 300mK
* Hold time well  in excess of 24 hours.
* Either two or three heat lift points for flexibility and capacity
Our new Continuous 300mK cryocoolers do all this  without any limit in hold time.
Cool to below 0.1 Kelvin
Cool to the max using the latent heat of enthalpy produced as liquid 3He dissolves in liquid 4He.
* Our protoype dilution coolers are compact, closed cycle units that need no external gas supply and will never need to be refilled with expensive Helium 3.
* Potential for continuous operation by using one of our continuous 300mK crycoolers as a precooler for a dilutor module.
